"Ridgewood's Fine Card. - Cuban Stars, Royals and Bushwicks to Play on Sunday. - Three of the leading semi-pro teams now playing on local diamonds will be seen in action next Sunday at Wallace's Ridgewood Grounds, Halsey Street and Wyckoff Avenue, Brooklyn. In the first game, at 1:30, the Cuban Stars, who are piling up a great record, will be pitted against the Royal Giants, and the winner of that game will face the Bushwicks in the final tilt. The Cubans, after a poor start, braced sufficiently to win nine of their last ten games, a record that few local semi-pro teams can boast of. The team is well balanced and is sure to make considerable trouble for the Royals. They will have their star pitcher, Suarez, pitted against Lefty Harvey. Girard and Hohman will work for the Bushwicks."

In the first game the Royal Giants will face the Cuban Stars, and the winner of that game will be opposed by the Bushwicks in the final game. Girard and Hohman will work for the Bushwicks in the final game."

"Royal Giants Take Double Header in Fast-Played Sunday Games. - New York City - Captain Earle's Royal Giants are apparently having as much fun in trouncing various white baseball aggregations as are their brothers, the Lincoln Giants. Since their start this season, seldom has the scoreboard shown them to be the compilers of the smaller number of runs. In last Sunday's set-to with the strong Bushwick nine, they corraled four runs while their opponents were gathering in two, and taking in for a good day's work the famous Cuban Stars, who the Royals defeated by the same score."

"At Ridgewood Grounds. - The Royal Giants annexed a double header at Wallace's Ridgewood Grounds yesterday, defeating the Cuban Stars by scores of 4 to 2 and 2 to 1. Both games were well played. The Cubans were weak at bat, getting four hits in the first game and only two in the second game."

"August 9, Cuban Stars here."
Millville, NJ
"Millville Tries Hard to Win - But Cuban Stars Nosed Out a 2 to 0 Victory. - Best Team Yet Seen Here. - Locals Had Rallies in Seventh and Eighth Innnings, but Couldn't Push Run Across Plate. - The Cuban Stars, easily the best ball club that has visited Millville this year, squeezed a victory out of yesterday's exhibition on the M.S.A.A. field, and went back to New York with a 2 to 0 score. Considering the calibre of the team, there was a small crowd present, but the fans who did attend witnessed a conflict in which there was continued interest and which became intensely exciting during the last three innings, when grand opportunities were presented the local talent aggregation to bat out a sensational victory. The timely hit at the crucial minute was lacking on each occasion. While the mIllvillians almost did it, the smash that would have brought them victory was not forthcoming at either opportunity. The Cuban Stars last Sunday lost to the Brooklyn Royal Giants by a 2 to 1 score, though they have defeated the Chinese and the BAcharach Giants by decisive figures. Their playing here yesterday stamped them as a real ball club, capable of giving most any nine a hard battle. Neither one of the Cubans' two tallies was earned. Guerra secured them both. In the fourth inning he walloped a terrific smash to left centre. Johnson sprinted after the ball and got in front of it and then dropped it. He reached second on the error and crossed the pan when Fabelo cracked a two-sack smash over George Boogar's head. In the sixth Guerra was given free transportation to second, and came all the way home on Baro's single. - Millville's Big Chances. - Suarez twirled good ball for the Cubans, and his speed and baffling curves had the locals down and out during the fore part of the contest. In the seventh, with one down, Boogar was safe when Layago dropped his long fly. Robinson was given a base on balls, and then Buckeye Stratton banged the first hit of the game off Suarez to centre. Boogar feared the ball would by caught, and did not start for third until it had struck the ground, or he would probably have counted. The sacks were all populated, and only one down. The chances looked exceedingly bright, and the fans yelled for Henderson to hit safely. He tried hard, but popped up a fly to first. There was still a chance, and it looked very good when Suarez served three straight balls. He then shot three across the plate, each one being called by Umpire Bacon. Seiferman didn't swing at any of them, and argued that the last one was wide, but the ump said not, and thus went the great big chance. It was one of those opportunities in which the official might have handed the home team something had his inclination been in that direction, but Bacon calls them as he sees them, and he felt satisfied that the ball was over the plate. There was one chance in the ninth. DeMaris led off with a hit to right. Boogar sacrificed him to second Layago committed his second error when he dropped Ned Robinson's smash to right centre, DeMaris reaching third on the play. Robinson stole second. Stratton, who had cracked a pretty single on his previous trip to the plate, was given the glad hand as he came up, and he tried the best he could to win his own game, but Suarez was too much for the big fellow. He whiffed, and up came Henderson. It was the second opportunity the local third sacker had had to win the game, or at least to tie up the score. He smashed a speedy roller that kept close to the ground and looked good for a safe clout as it sped past the third baseman; but Fabelo, who is a real wizard at baseball and who had bothered and robbed Millville batters of hits all afternoon, ran over, scooped up the ball, shot it to first for the final out of the game."

"Cuban Stars vs. Lincolns. - Olympic Field, 136th Street and Fifth Avenue, will be the scene of an excellent attraction on Sunday, when the Cuban Stars of Havana and the Lincoln Giants clash in a double header. The Cubans are travelling at top speed now and should make things interesting for Manger Keenan's star aggregation. For fielding ability, few teams that have shown hereabout have anything on the Cuban. The team has done considerable playing since arriving from Havana and has fared well in the majority of games. Suarez and Armentero will oppose Redding and Williams on the firing line."

"Cuban Stars in Harlem. - Olympic Field's leading attraction of the season is carded for this Sunday afternoon, when the Cuban Stars of Havana and the Lincoln Giants face each other in a double header. Early this season the Cubans were beaten by the Lincolns, but on that occasion they were fresh from an ocean trip and were in poor condition. Since then, however, the team has taken a big brace and has scored victories over most of the leading Eastern semi-pro teams. Suarez and Arnientero will pitch for the Cubans and Rojo will catch. The Lincolns will have their stars, Redding and Williams on the mound."

"Cubans Play Lincoln Giants. - Tomorrow afternoon at Olympic Field, 136th Street and Fifth Avenue, the famous Cuban Stars from Havana will play the Lincoln Giants, world's colored champions, in a double-header, commencing at 1:30p.m. The crack players from Cuba have been making a great record on the road and are now at the top of their form and expect to break the great winning streak of the colored champions. The visitors from the Antilles are big favorites here and a record crowd is looked for."

"Cuban Stars in Harlem. - Will PLay Lincoln Giants Double Header Today. - Olympic Field, 136th Street and Fifth Avenue, will be the scene of a good baseball attraction this afternoon. The Cuban Stars of Havana will be pitted against the Lincoln Giants in a double header. When the Stars first came to this city early in May they were defeated by the Lincolns, but since then the team has been considerably strenthened and should be able to furnish the local team with a brand of playing that will keep them on the jump from start to finish. The Cubans have met with success in the majority of games since their Northern arrival. Williams and Redding will oppose the Cubans, who will line up as follows: Teran, 2nd base; Portuondo, 3rd base; Baro, left field; Guerra, 1st base; Labaga, right field; Fabelo, short stop; Ramirez, center field; Rojo, catcher; Suarez and Armentero, pitchers."

"At Olympic Field. - The Lincoln Giants won a double header from the Cuban Stars at Olympic field yesterday, the first game, an eleven inning tilt, 8 to 7, and the second 7 to 6. In the first, with two out and two on bases, Williams, after two strikes were called on him, hit the ball over the centre field fence for a homer. As only one run was needed to win, his hit went only for a single. Forbes hit two circuit drives in the second game."

"Ridgewood Contests. - Cuban Stars, Philly Giants and Bushwicks in Twin Bill. - Wallace's Ridgewood Grounds, Halsey Street and Wyckoff Avenue, Brooklyn, will be the scene of a double header this Sunday in which three crack teams will play. The first game will bring together the Cuban Stars and the Philadelphia Giants, and the winner of that contest will clash with the Bushwicks in the final tilt. The Cuban Stars are playing at a whirwind clip and if past performances are to be taken into consideration the team should triumph over the Giants and enter the final game. Last Sunday the Cubans thrilled a big crowd at Olympic Field, where the team played an eleven inning game with the Lincoln Giants, a homer by Williams ending the contest. The Philly Giants early this season played at Ridgewood, where they annexed both ends of a double header."

"Ridgewood's Big Bill. - Cuban Stars Will Clash With Long Branch Cubans Sunday. - The Cuban Stars of Havana and the Long Branch Cubans will clash in a double header this Sunday at Wallace's Ridgewood Grounds, Halsey Street and Wyckoff Avenue, Brooklyn, Although a number of players of both teams have opposed each other in Winter games in Havana, Sunday's game will mark their first clash in the country. The Long Branch Cubans have had quite a successful season as a traveling team, and their opponents, the Cuban Stars, can boast of even a better season. Splendid pitching in each case is responsible for the fine work of both. Ballestores and Munos will be used by the Long Branch team, and Suarez will work on the mound in one game for the Stars. Ridgewood is preparing to harbor the entire Cuban population next Sunday."

"Cubans at Ridgewood. - The Long Branch Cubans and the Cuban Stars will meet in a double header at Wallace's Ridgewood Grounds, Halsey Street and Wyckoff avenue, Brooklyn, this Sunday. It will be the first time this season that these teams oppose each other. Most of the players of both teams have clashed during the winter months in Havana. Sunday's games are sure to be keenly contested from the start. Munoz, who has a record of nineteen victories out of twenty-two games, will face Suarez in the final contest. The first game will start at 1:30."

"At Ridgewood Grounds. - Before one of the biggest crowds seen at the Ridgewood Grounds this season the Long Branch Cubans defeated the Cuban Stars yesterday by a score of 5 to 4. Sensational fielding featured. The teams were to have played a double header, but a heavy downpour caused all hands to seek shelter after four innings of the second tilt had been played."

The Cubans, who have defeated some of the leading white semi-pro nines in the East, will find tomorrow's opponents a little tougher than those they met so far. Munoz early this season won seventeen consecutive games."
