"Sparks of the Diamond. - Eddie Douglass, former first baseman of the Dallas Black Giants has a regular berth with the Brooklyn Royal Giants. Edgar Wesley, former star of the Waco Navigators is now holding down first base job for Detroit and is getting his daily bingles. The famous Texas battery, Brown and Brown are now the property of the American Giants and made their debut before a Chicago gathering recently and walked off with the bacon. The same old pep that put the Texas sluggers on water wagon was shouldered the boys of the big show. They have made good. Waco has a comer in this boy Davis, who flings from the heart side. With careful training into one of the Giant's greatest stars. Blackmon of Waco hasn't struck his stride yet as everyone knows that Blackmon is one of the best fielding artists in the loop around the hot corner and is equally as dangerous with the stick."

"Detroit Stars Beat Kitchener - Colored Club Too Advanced for Mint League Team. - Kitchener, Ontario, May 8. - Andy Kile, the former Canadian leaguer, made the first hit off Lefty John Donaldson's delivery in the ninth inning in the exhibition game here Wednesday afternoon between the Detroit Stars and the Kitchener Beavers, and scored on a close decision after Pete Hill and John Donaldson had misjudged a high fly off Manager Beatty's bat. These were the only hits made by the Beavers who were eating out of Donaldson's hand during the preceding eight innings. The final score was 4 to 1 in favor of the visitors. The game was well played and interesting throughout, and the 1,500 baseball enthusiasts were delighted with the performance of the local team, despite their weakness at bat. Tommy Bird at shortstop starred for the locals on the fielding department. Wilsogal pitched steady ball against the colored boys for six innings, but weakened in the seventh and was replaced by Risk who arrived from Milwaukee Wednesday morning. Both pitchers gave a good account of themselves."

"Republics of Alma Want to be Considered - Can't See How Series Between Detroit Stars and Maxwells Decides Title. - Alma, September 5. - The Republics of this city can't see how the recent weekend series of the Detroit Stars and Maxwells for the state semi-pro title can decide the championship. Their reason is that following the even split at Alma the Maxwells have not met the Republics in additional games, as had been agreed and because the Detroit Stars have not considered playing the Republics. The manager of the Maxwells, when that team was in Alma, agreed to arrange dates in Detroit for additional games, but they were never forthcoming. The Detroit Stars never offered as much as a reply to the letters sent to them regarding games. The Republics desire to make it clear that they are perfectly willing to meet either aggregation, or for that matter any other aggregation which believes that it has the strength to cop the semi-pro title."

John Donaldson who has been pitching for the Detroit Stars this season will be here to hurl one of these games. Lefty Maples of the St. Louis Browns will pitch for the All Stars in Saturday's game and possibly Roy Sanders will work the Sunday contest.
