"One Big Round Won For Giants - Brooklyn Colored Team Defeated Globe in First Game of Double-Header - By bunching their hits in the eighth frame and counting three runs, the Brooklyn Royal Giants defeated Globe Tire Club at Globe Field yesterday afternoon in the first game of a double header. The score was 4 to 2. The colored visitors were first to count when they put a run over in the second. Globe tied up in the fourth and played like winners but the three runs in the eighth gave the visitors the game. Globe scored a run in the ninth but this was not enough to win. Boyce started the game for the Globe team but was relieved by Gaiser."

Smith and White were the Bacharach Giants' battery, while Kent and Lehr worked for the Philadelphia nine. Eight hits were made off Kent, while the shore team's hurler held the Quaker City batters to four safeties."
