"Dallas, Texas. - Poor old Gainesville. McGarr Wonders are playing some classy ball. While Waco leads the dope sheet, Houston is on the toboggan. The Monarchs are here for the Black Giants to take their measure. Umpire Potts is pleasing. Big Hands is leading the team, with Rucker, Henderson and Cat as followers. Jones is coming at short. Lockett and Lampkin are doing the backstopping to suit the fans. Griffin is not hitting as of yore. Black London and Red Hoss are making other pitchers keep their batting eyes on them. It takes hitting and running to win, boys. Manager Walker is all smiles and he means business strictly when talking of his baseball team. All the knockers are on the down and out list since the Giants have beaten all comers since the league season opened. Dallas beat Houston two and tied one eighting inning game. Took four games from the Wonders and tied a thirteen-inning game 2 to 2. Pulled a curtain in their faces two days in succession."

"On Monday of this week the Chicago Baseball League passed a rule barring games between its members and all visiting colored ball clubs from now on, the rule being made to include the Cuban clubs that have been playing around the circuit the past two years. The rule will work very badly against the Stars of Cuba, who figured on playing on the Chicago League Circuit after the Cuban Stars left the city. This action means that the Chicago Leaguers will not play visiting colored teams any more in the future."
