"Mobile Baseball Players Are At Game - The Cuban Stars and Dixie Parks, of Mobile, played April 5 in Mobile before about 1,000 fans and over. The Stars put up their usual exhibition of good ball playing, and the inside and general team work of the club was about the best seen in Mobile this year. The Mobile team secured more hits, but they were kept well scattered. Bee Turner pitched an excellent game for the home club. The feature of the game was the great catch of Myers in center field, and threw, cutting off a run of the visitors. Pediroso pitched the last four innings for the Stars, his control being perfect, striking out eight men and yielding only two 2-base hits during his stay in the box."

"A cable from Havana to Jimmy Callahan this morning indicates that the Cuban Stars will play on the Chicago League circuit this year, instead of the Park Owners', the wire stating that the club left for New Orleans on its way up North in charge of Secretary Camps of the Almendares Club, and that President Linares would join the club on its way to Chicago. The cable stated that Mendez, Pedroso, Garcia, Bustamante, Hernandez, Parpetti, Munez and other big men of the Cuban League were in the party. It looks as though the outcome of the fight between President Linares and McAllister will not be known until the club actually tries to play in Chicago, May 28."

"A.W. McAllister, working in the interest of the Park Owner's Association, has landed here with a Cuban team, which will be used as a counter attraction to whatever will be used by the City League in the Cuban line of ball tossers. This latter Cuban team opened up at Gunther's Park Saturday and Sunday with Jose Mendez and Rafael Figarolo carded as the battery. Quite a number of the parks have already started the Sunday morning contests, so it is probably that the Cubans will get all they want in the way of games."

East is an unknown party to our organizeation or to myself, and warn clubs not to be fooled into doing business with others believing they are playing the Cuban Stars, who are fully incorporated under the laws of the State of New York and the name is also copyrighted at Washington, D.C., and clubs scheduling games under the name of Cuban Stars will be prosecuted by law. The crowd was so large that hundreds and hundreds of people were lined up against each side of the fence, anxious to see the game. It was a brilliant exhibition on both sides, neither pitcher issuing a pass ball. Medoros held the Giants to two hits, these being made by Winston and Pettus. The defeat came in the sixth inning, when the Cuban Stars made three hits and two scores. They also made two scores in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, when the Chicago Giants, had not made a score, Pettus came to the bat. He knocked a long fly to right. Gongalla misjudged the ball and Pettus went to third. "On Monday of this week the Chicago Baseball League passed a rule barring games between its members and all visiting colored ball clubs from now on, the rule being made to include the Cuban clubs that have been playing around the circuit the past two years. The rule will work very badly against the Stars of Cuba, who figured on playing on the Chicago League Circuit after the Cuban Stars left the city. This action means that the Chicago Leaguers will not play visiting colored teams any more in the future."
