"New Orleans fans would like to hear from the New York Black Sox. The New Orleans star pitcher, George Robertson and crack shortstop, Oscar Hardy, are now with the Black Sox. Robertson left with Manager Smith for Memphis to meet the Black Sox. The route of that team so far as known is: Holly Springs, Memphis, Nashville, Paducah, St. Louis, French Lick, Louisville, Cincinnati, Dayton, Pittsburg, Harrisburg, then to New York."

"McAlester, Oklahoma. - Sporting Editor the Freeman: - Kind Sir, I write you the following result of a game of baseball played between Charles Stevenson's club of New Orleans and the Wilburton Blacks at the Pittsburg Fair Grounds, McAlester, Oklahoma, resulting 4 to 3 in favor of Wilburton, The game was well played, with the exception of the many squabbles. The decisions of the umpire were simply rotten and the New Orleans team was robbed of the victory."

"Friday, July 8, was a double-header day at Shelly Park, and it was a good one, too. The first game was played by the New Orleans Eagles and the Klothe Reds, from Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was a close game, and these boys from the South fought it out all the way, and it wasn't settled until the last half of the ninth, when the Eagles won out by a score of 6 to 5. The Royals played the winner. Batteries, for the Royals was Norman and Harrison. For the Eagles, Scott and Ephriam. It was a very exciting game, both teams leading at times. Final Score, 8 to 6, in favor of the Royal Giants, thus making three games out of five for the Kansas City team."

Centreville, LA
"A Correction. - Centreville, Louisiana - To the Editor of the Freeman: Sir, please correct error of New Orleans baseball team wherein they claimed to have been winning 'em all, which is incorrect. When they played Centreville they beat us 9 to 4. The same team at Verdunville lost to Cetreville 4 to 3. I cannot account for their actions, claiming to have won in Verdunville by a score of 1 to 0, unless they thought the Freeman never comes down this way. True, the game was hotly contested all the way though, our boys simply playing them off their feet. We are very proud of out team, which has played fifteen games and won all save two, which were lost by a single score."

"On Monday of this week the Chicago Baseball League passed a rule barring games between its members and all visiting colored ball clubs from now on, the rule being made to include the Cuban clubs that have been playing around the circuit the past two years. The rule will work very badly against the Stars of Cuba, who figured on playing on the Chicago League Circuit after the Cuban Stars left the city. This action means that the Chicago Leaguers will not play visiting colored teams any more in the future."
