"The Pensacola Giants left last Friday for Mobile, Alabama, New Orleans, and Moss Point, where they will play a series of games in each city. On their return they will play the Brewton Giants of Brewton, Alabama. The Giants received their new uniforms last week, and everybody is glad that they have received them. They were ordered before the season started. The boys look fine in their new togs. Manager Lew Oliver, who received a broken hand last month, will be in the game next Friday, when the Giants will cross bats with the Brewton team."

"Pensacola Baseball News. - Special to the Freeman. - The Pensacola Giants left last week for Mobile, Alabama; Moss Point, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana, where they will play a series of games in each city. - The boys have been playing some fine ball this season. Three of our players have been laid up for some weeks. Hannon, who has been sick since they arrived from New Orleans, is out again and will play with the team while it is on the road. Captain Oliver is getting along as well as could be expected. He received a broken hand while on the road. Hedgen is also getting along nicely. He is one of the local players of the city and has done fine with the Giants. The Pensacola Giants defeated the Moss Point Giants in three games at Lincoln Park. Some very fast ball was played by the local Giants. The Moss Points were very easy to win from. Lewis and Scotland were the battery. The Pensacola Normal School team will play the Mobile Giants next Friday at Lincoln Park, and there will also be a picnic at the park, given by the school boys. The Pensacola Giants will soon have one of the strongest teams in the South when they return from their road trip."

"We played here 22nd and 23rd, winning the first day 8 to 7. The feature of the game was Boot's hitting, getting four hits out of four times at bat and scoring four runs. Also Hannon's playing at third. He made two one-handed stabs and threw the runner out at first. That would make Bill Bradley feel proud. One of Boot's hits was a home run. Turner, the youngster picked up in Mobile, pitched the second day, letting the Brewtons down with two hits. Rain fell during the game. Patton pitched the game here and Harris did the catching. We picked up Smith, a catcher, at Brewton who has an arm almost equal to Petway of the Leland Gaints. Scotland pulled off a couple of good plays, throwing out two men at first base on what should have been hits from center field. We are on our tour of the North. Our next game are in Selma, then to Montgomery, where the boys are anxious to play, as most of them live htere. Cobbs, Patton, McCoy, Harris, Hannon and Scotland played their first game in fast company in Montgomery."
"We beat the Evergreens on the 23rd, 11 to 0."

"We leave Tuesday, July 19, for French Lick for a series of games. We were to play the West Baden Sprudels a series of games, but after we beat the Cubs, Manager Taylor cancelled his dates with me after having me travel from Pensacola to Louisville, nearly a thousand miles. This is the second time Mr. Taylor has failed to stick to his agreement with me. It was most unfortunate, owing to the outlay of money and the loss of time. There should be some way in the future to assure visiting clubs or else the game will be hurt by indifference to contracts. We had bad weather all the way, but the owners of clubs stuck to their contracts. The boys send regards to Bud Davis of the Dixie Parks, Frank Duncan of the Leland Giants and William Goldstucker of Pensacola. Yours truly, Jas. Goldstucker."

"On Monday of this week the Chicago Baseball League passed a rule barring games between its members and all visiting colored ball clubs from now on, the rule being made to include the Cuban clubs that have been playing around the circuit the past two years. The rule will work very badly against the Stars of Cuba, who figured on playing on the Chicago League Circuit after the Cuban Stars left the city. This action means that the Chicago Leaguers will not play visiting colored teams any more in the future."

"First Eight Men Up Hit Home Runs Over Fence. - Paducah, Kentucky. - The first eight men up for the Pensacola, Florida Giants against the Paducah Nationals, both negro teams, each knocked a home run over the right field fence in a game here recently. The Paducah pitcher then settled down and allowed one only more run, the score resulting 9 to 0 for Pensacola."

"In Sunday's double-header, Pitcher Smith pitched remarkable ball in both games. The Giants outplayed the Cubs in every part of the game. In the second the Cubs evened up things a little with West in the Box. The Cubs won the second game. The crowd got a run for its money and was glad to break even. - Notes. - If proper support had been given Benton in the first game, there would have been a different story to tell. Keep at 'em, Benton, we are with you. Old Nat plays to win at all times; goes after everything and is batting in good form. Woods and Emory are only playing fair ball. Wonder what's the matter? Benton, West and Griffin are a nice bunch of twirlers. All we need is a right fielder and another catcher. Haywood Rose is doing nicely at present. Let the good work go on. Get in the game, Wallace, old fellow. We know what you can do. Come on and give us a lift; now is the time. Watson seems to be rather listless at time. Wonder what's the matter with Pup? Bloomer Girls Sunday and Monday. Martin's playing at first gives general satisfaction and should be kept at first base. There is something loose somewhere. The present Cubs are not the Cubs of old. I don't know who is to blame. Oh, well, time will tell."
