"Baseball in the New England States. - New York, New York - Just finished a most successful season with the New York Black Sox throughout the New England States. There is a rumor around New York that Harry Buckner is trying to get Robertson over with the Royals. Buckner, Tearle and Robertson are looked upon out East to be the hardest batting pitchers that have been seen in that part of the country this season, regardless of color. When Frank Leland passed Robertson up when in New Orleans he recommended him to the St. Paul Gophers and New York Black Sox. During St. Paul's delay in agreeing on terms the New York Black Sox grabbed Robertson up. Robertson may play in Palm Beach this winter, as he and Harry Buckner are close pals. Buckner wants to use him down there. The Chicago Giants are all right, but they haven't got all good dependable hitters on the club and passing up such a man as George, who would have helped the club very much at the bat, in right field, and on the mound. There's good material yet in New Orleans, and the club managers will do well to keep in touch with the spot pages of the Freeman, for I will push out for you to pick up the best of it. Yours truly, J.E.L."

"New Orleans fans would like to hear from the New York Black Sox. The New Orleans star pticher, George Robertson, and crack shortstop, Oscar Hardy, are now with the Black Sox. Robertson left with Manager Smith for Memphis to meet the Black Sox. The route of that team so far as known is: Holly Springs, Memphis, Nashville, Paducah, St. Louis, French Lick, Louisville, Cincinnati, Dayton, Pittsburg, Harrisburg, then to New York."

"On Monday of this week the Chicago Baseball League passed a rule barring games between its members and all visiting colored ball clubs from now on, the rule being made to include the Cuban clubs that have been playing around the circuit the past two years. The rule will work very badly against the Stars of Cuba, who figured on playing on the Chicago League Circuit after the Cuban Stars left the city. This action means that the Chicago Leaguers will not play visiting colored teams any more in the future."
