"Kansas City, Missouri Diamond Dust. - The Giants have gone to St. Louis to meet the Tigers. - The Giants, under Jack Johnson's management, formerly of the Chicago Unions, are building up an enviable record. Since Easter Sunday they have played thirteen games against the fastest teams hereabouts, and have yet to meet their first defeat. - The (Kansas City) Monarchs opened their season late, and have met their only defeat at the hands of the Giants, but they are expected to hold their own during the rest of the season."

"Tigers Win in a Walk from Star Councils - Special to the Freeman. - St. Louis, Missouri. - May 16. - The Star Councils (white) came from the South Side to give the Tigers a game. They claimed they could play ball, but when the Tigers got through with them they were convinced that they could not. The Tigers batted Brown all over the field, knocking him off the mound in the fourth inning with a score of twelve runs to their credit. Haste did better work for the rest of the game. The Tigers could not get to Haste so well, for they only scored two hits off him in five innings. Score: St. Louis tigers 14, Star councils 3."
