"Kansas City, Missouri Diamond Dust. - The Giants have gone to St. Louis to meet the Tigers. - The Giants, under Jack Johnson's management, formerly of the Chicago Unions, are building up an enviable record. Since Easter Sunday they have played thirteen games against the fastest teams hereabouts, and have yet to meet their first defeat. - The (Kansas City) Monarchs opened their season late, and have met their only defeat at the hands of the Giants, but they are expected to hold their own during the rest of the season."

"Miners Play Monarchs. - Buxton, Iowa Team Will be Seen in Action at Kansas City Sunday. - Kansas City, Missouri. - The Monarchs will play the Buxton, Iowa team tomorrow in this city. The Monarchs is a fast team, and expect to send the Buxton lads away with defeat. A.E. Pullman, 2300 Vine Street, will arrange games with any classy team."

"Kansas City Giants Beat Miners and Topekans - Miners Lose 13 Inning Game, 1 to 0 - Topeka Catcher's Leg Broke. - Special to the Freeman. - Kansas City, Kansas. - The Kansas City, Kansas Giants and the Buxton, Iowa Wonders played Sunday morning, June 13, a thirteen-inning game, and the score was 1 to 0 in favor of the Giants. In the afternoon the Giants played the Topeka Giants. The game was going on fine until the last half of the fifth inning, when Jack Johnson, the manager of the Kansas City giants, was making a run from third to home, he ran into the catcher of the Topeka Giants and broke the catcher's leg just above the ankle. The Kansas City Giants won the game 7 to 2. Both games were largely attended. Today and Sunday the Monarchs and Giants will play at Riverside Park."

"Errors Costly to Monarchs. - Kansas City, Kansas Giants Beat - Pettus's Three-Base Hit Wins Game. - Special to the Freeman. - Kansas City, Kansas. - In a close and exciting game, Sunday, the Kansas City, Kansas Giants defeated the Monarchs for the third time at Riverside Park, 1 to 0. Pettus won the game in the seventh inning, scoring Sternman with a long three-base drive. Both pitchers were in good form. Attendance, 2,500. Score: Monarchs 0, K.C. Giants 1. The Giants challenge any strong team in the city for a purse of from $100 to $500 a side. Call Bell phone West 380, or Home phone West 171, and ask for Jack Johnson. The Giants defeated the Monarchs Saturday by a score of 12 to 4."
